The Velturno Chestnut Weeks are back for their 29th edition, offering over three weeks dedicated to chestnuts, the traditional Törggelen celebration, and the delicious autumn flavors of the Valle Isarco. From October 17th to November 8th, Velturno invites you to enjoy farmer's markets, guided hikes through chestnut groves, chestnut harvesting, tastings, visits to local farms, live music, and special culinary events. Restaurants and local businesses will be participating with seasonal specialties and traditional dishes. Key highlights include the opening with the Törggelen Market at Castel Velturno, Sunday strolls along the Chestnut Trail, the Nigl-Markt, and the grand closing Chestnut Festival.

Get ready for a packed schedule! The festivities kick off on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17th, with the Törggelen Market opening at 10:00 AM in the courtyard of Castel Velturno, followed by the official inauguration at 10:30 AM, featuring regional specialties prepared by Velturno farmers. On SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18th and 25th, join 'Chestnuts along the Chestnut Trail' from 11:00 AM, where you can enjoy chestnuts, local wines, farm products, and small dishes along the scenic route. MONDAY, OCTOBER 19th and 26th, plus NOVEMBER 2nd, offers a chance to pick your own chestnuts at Moar in Guln farm at 2:00 PM, with the option to purchase your harvest at half price. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21st and 28th, plus NOVEMBER 4th, features a guided Törggelen hike with a stop, starting at 10:00 AM and returning around 4:00 PM (2-2.5 hours of walking). This hike is free for guests of associated accommodations, otherwise €10. On THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22nd and NOVEMBER 5th, immerse yourself in a chestnut experience with farmer and sculptor Herbert Kerschbaumer at Thalerhof farm at 3:00 PM, lasting approximately 2 hours for €15 per person. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23rd, includes 'Wine, hikes, and chestnut specialties,' a walk with tastings at typical local venues at 10:00 AM. Later, at 7:30 PM, enjoy the Rocktober charity concert at Castaneum with So no nia, Field Tower Project, and DJ Stone. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29th, has something for everyone: an adventure hike for children in the chestnut forest at 2:00 PM, with games, stories, and roasted chestnuts over a fire for €5. In the evening, at 8:00 PM, experience 'All in White: White Wine Meets Cheese' at Zöhlhof farm, a tasting of white wines and fresh cheeses for €20. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30th, repeats the 'Wine, hikes, and chestnut specialties' walk at 10:00 AM, followed by the opening of the autumn exhibition by amateur painters of the Valle Isarco at Castel Velturno at 5:00 PM. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6th, offers another opportunity for the 'Wine, hikes, and chestnut specialties' walk at 10:00 AM. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7th, brings the Nigl-Markt to the center of Velturno from 10:00 AM, featuring artisan craft stalls, roasted chestnuts, local wine, farm specialties, musical entertainment, and a second-hand market at Castaneum. The grand finale on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8th, begins with a Thanksgiving Mass at 9:00 AM, followed by the Great Chestnut Festival from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Enjoy a market and Törggelen along the village street, roasted chestnuts, local wine, farm specialties, traditional music groups and Schuhplattler dancers, and a dedicated children's program from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
