The Sagra delle Frugiate returns to Vellano for its 58th edition, transforming this charming village in the Svizzera Pesciatina area into a lively celebration dedicated to chestnuts and the delicious flavors of autumn. The stars of the show are the “frugiate,” traditional roasted chestnuts prepared in a giant pan and served with local wine. You'll also find other delightful chestnut-based treats like necci (chestnut crepes), castagnaccio (chestnut cake), fritters, bomboloni (Italian doughnuts), and a variety of local culinary specialties. The entire village comes alive with a market, live music, activities for children, visits to the Museum of the Quarryman and Miner, a captivating photo exhibition, guided walks through the historic village, and tours of the pietra serena stone quarry.
