The 68th Sagra del Cesanese celebrates the winemaking excellence of Ciociaria with tastings of Cesanese wine and delicious local dishes. From August 20th to 23rd, the historic center of Piglio transforms into a vibrant stage for live music, traditional folklore shows, and the famous Palio Nazionale delle Botti, where teams race 500-liter wine barrels through the streets. It's a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich traditions and convivial atmosphere of Ciociaria's culinary scene.
Get ready for four days of fun! The festival kicks off on THURSDAY, AUGUST 20th, with an inauguration toast at 6:00 PM, followed by the opening of the 'Fraschette' (traditional food stalls) at 8:00 PM. Enjoy live music with I Pinnicalleri at 9:00 PM and Brigallè at 10:00 PM. FRIDAY, AUGUST 21st, brings more culinary delights with the opening of Viale del Cesanese at 7:00 PM and the Fraschette at 8:00 PM. The evening features a concert by Alla Bua at 9:30 PM, followed by a DJ Set with Frattali at midnight. SATURDAY, AUGUST 22nd, is a big day for the Palio Nazionale delle Botti! The inauguration is at 12:30 PM, with Fraschette opening at 1:00 PM. Catch the Palio Nazionale delle Botti qualifications at 5:00 PM, then witness the historical parade "Quando il Papa era Re" and a flag-wavers' show at 6:00 PM. The main Palio Nazionale delle Botti race starts at 6:45 PM. Viale del Cesanese opens at 7:00 PM, and Fraschette at 8:00 PM. Enjoy a concert by Hernicantus at 9:00 PM, and dance the night away at the Crazy 90's Il Party Anni 90 at 11:00 PM. SUNDAY, AUGUST 23rd, concludes the festival with Fraschette opening at 1:00 PM and again at 8:00 PM. Don't miss the MBL - Musicisti Basso Lazio concert at 9:00 PM, followed by a Tombola drawing at 11:30 PM and a DJ Set with Joseph at midnight.
