Step back in time to 1815 Pizzo with a captivating historical reenactment that brings to life the dramatic events surrounding King Gioacchino Murat's landing, arrest, trial, and execution. Experience period costume parades, historical groups, a charming historical market, and authentic period music, culminating in a solemn commemoration with a Holy Mass.
The event kicks off on Wednesday, October 7th, at 7:00 PM with a presentation of the Reenactment at the Sala Consiliare of the Comune di Pizzo. On Saturday, October 10th, at 4:30 PM, a historical parade of reenactors will march from Villa ex Stazione Calabro Lucane to Piazza della Repubblica. Later that Saturday, there will be a presentation of the historical groups, certificate awards, and a concert of fifes and drums featuring Napoleonic music. The main historical reenactment of King Gioacchino Murat's landing, capture, trial, and execution takes place on Sunday, October 11th, at 9:00 AM. Also on Sunday, explore the historical market in Piazza della Repubblica and enjoy period music. The commemoration of King Gioacchino Murat's death anniversary will be held on Tuesday, October 13th, at 6:00 PM, with a Holy Mass celebrated by Don Fortunato Figliano, animated by M. Franco Arena and Soprano Rita Valenti.
