Step back in time as the charming village of Castelnovo del Friuli transforms into a spectacular open-air theater for two days. Visitors will relive the dramatic events of 1508-1509, when the Cèrnidis besieged the castle, a stronghold fiercely contested by the Savorgnan counts. Experience breathtaking historical reconstructions, costumed performers, traditional taverns serving local food and wine specialties, flag-wavers, and Renaissance merchants. The event also features a scenic 4 km historical walk along the Sentiero delle Cernidis.
📅 Saturday, July 18, 2026 🍽️ 5:30 PM - Midnight: Taverns open with local food and wine specialties. The village comes alive with flag-wavers, musicians, armed guards, nobles, commoners, jesters, merchants, and artisans. 🎤 7:00 PM: Reenactment of the Austrian Garrison's Settlement in the Castle A.D. 1497. 🎤 8:30 PM: Reenactment of the First Assault on the Castle by the Cernidis, commanded by Antonio Savorgnan A.D. 1508. 🎤 11:30 PM: Day concludes with a grand show featuring all animation groups. 📅 Sunday, July 19, 2026 🚶 10:00 AM: 'Passi Parole Passeggiata Storica naturalistica Il Sentiero delle Cernidis' – a historical nature walk (approx. 4 km through the hills). 🍽️ 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM: Taverns open with many local food and wine specialties. The village buzzes with flag-wavers, musicians, armed guards, nobles, commoners, jesters, merchants, and artisans. 🎤 4:30 PM: Performance by the Sbandieratori Leon Coronato di Spilimbergo flag-wavers group. 🎤 6:30 PM: Reenactment of the Decisive Assault on the Castle by the Cernidis, commanded by Antonio Savorgnan A.D. 1509. 🎤 7:30 PM: Historical parade featuring all participating groups. 🎤 9:45 PM: The Historical Reenactment concludes with a spectacular show by all animation groups. ⏰ Throughout both days: Educational art workshop for children (Renaissance decorations by Arte Progetto APS), Armiger camps, and a Renaissance market. 📸 Photo Exhibition 'Archivio fotografico di Don Mario Carlon' at Ex Canonica di Vigna - Saturday 18: 6:00 PM-10:00 PM | Sunday 19: 9:30 AM-12:00 PM and 5:00 PM-9:00 PM (free admission).
