The Regata Storica in Venice is the most important Voga alla Veneta race, with documented origins dating back to the 1200s. This spectacular event commemorates the 1489 welcome of Caterina Cornaro, a Venetian noblewoman returning to her city. The festivities kick off with a magnificent parade of dozens of colorful 16th-century boats, featuring gondoliers in period costumes transporting the Doge, Dogaressa, and other high-ranking magistrates. Following the parade are four races, categorized by age and boat type, culminating in the main championship race.
