Step back in time with the Palio Madama Margherita, a historical re-enactment commemorating the 1538 arrival of Madama Margherita d'Austria, daughter of Emperor Charles V, in the feudal territory that now bears her name. This vibrant event features meticulously reconstructed historical settings, grand parades, and culminates in the 'Contesa a Cavallo,' a thrilling equestrian skill competition between knights representing the four districts (Rioni) of Castel Madama. A tradition established in 1982, it's a unique glimpse into Italy's rich past.
