Step back in time with the Palio dei Normanni, a spectacular medieval historical re-enactment celebrating the liberation of Piazza Armerina from Muslim rule (1061-1063). Over 600 costumed participants bring history to life with parades, processions, and knight investitures. The highlight is the Quintana on August 14th, where knights from the historic quarters compete in a thrilling equestrian jousting tournament. Recognized as the most important medieval re-enactment in Southern Italy, it's also inscribed in Sicily's Register of Intangible Heritage.

A medieval jousting tournament featuring four challenging equestrian skill tests: striking the Saracen's shield with a lance, hitting with a mace, grabbing a ring at a gallop, and throwing a javelin at a target 5 meters high.
