The 8th edition of L'Arrosticciere in piazza in Civitaquana celebrates the origins of the arrosticino with a historical re-enactment of its primitive cooking methods. This event offers educational workshops, falconry displays, and live music, preserving Abruzzo's flavors and culture. It's a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in local food, wine, and artisanal traditions.

Savor the star of the show: Arrosticino, a delicious local specialty made from sheep meat skewered on olive or dogwood branches, cooked traditionally for an authentic taste of Abruzzo.

Join us for two days of festivities! On Saturday, September 19, 2026, the artisan market opens at 6:00 PM, followed by a Modern Falconry exhibition at 7:00 PM. At 8:00 PM, witness the primitive cooking re-enactment of arrosticini, and enjoy live music from the Tequila & Montepulciano Band at 9:00 PM. Sunday, September 20, 2026, kicks off with the artisan market at 9:30 AM. At 10:00 AM, participate in 'A Day as a Rescuer' with activities and workshops. The Maccabbarri folk group performs at 10:30 AM. Engage in discussions at 11:00 AM with Anna Rita Severini, curator of 'Gli Abruzzi dei contadini,' followed by institutional speeches from the Museo delle Genti d'Abruzzo and local authorities at 11:30 AM, and Gioacchino Bonsignore and Maurizio Varriano at 12:00 PM. Experience another primitive arrosticini cooking re-enactment at 1:00 PM. In the afternoon, enjoy a 'Guferia' (Owls and Lavender) exhibition at 5:00 PM, another arrosticini cooking re-enactment at 7:00 PM, and dance to the 'Summer Hits' orchestra at 8:00 PM.
