The 9th edition of 'La notte dei forni' celebrates the rich bread-making traditions of Oliveto Lucano with a guided tour through the historic center, exploring ancient community ovens. Starting at 7:30 PM, the event features historical re-enactments, intergenerational workshops on preparing typical local bread and focaccia, and musical evenings with local artists. It's a wonderful opportunity to rediscover the authentic flavors and culinary heritage of the region.
Indulge in local culinary delights, including a savory focaccia made with spelt flour and onions, and 'Pan cotto rivisitato alla olivetese,' a unique take on a traditional bread-based dish, showcasing the authentic flavors of Oliveto Lucano.
Join us on August 18, 2026, starting at 7:30 PM in Piazza Umberto I. The 9th edition of 'La notte dei forni' kicks off on Corso Garibaldi, followed by a guided tour through the historic center to discover ancient community ovens. Experience historical re-enactment scenes between grandparents and grandchildren in Piazzetta Corso Garibaldi, presented by APS Ali di Libellule. Participate in an intergenerational workshop to make focaccia with spelt flour and onions, led by APS Il Girasole di Pomarico. Enjoy religious songs with Martina Tosti and Luciano Garramone in Piazza Ducale/Chiesa Madre, and visit the 'Sgranocchia Pannocchie' gathering in Piazzetta Via Duomo. The evening culminates at midnight with a musical performance by Antonio Santarsiero, followed by an awards ceremony for the volunteer bakers. Admission is 10€ and includes a gadget; free for under 10s, with reduced prices for ages 11-17.
