Il Gonfalone is a 55-year-old folk festival celebrating the traditions of Ciociaria through challenges between the districts and 'contrade' (neighborhoods) of Arpino. Over four days, participants wear traditional costumes and compete in races such as donkey racing, wheelbarrow racing, 'corsa con la cannata' (a race reserved for women), and tug-of-war. The event concludes with a Historical Parade where all districts and contrade march in costume. It's one of the most unique folk festivals in the region.
