The Gran Festa del Desmontegar returns to the Primiero Valley from September 24th to 27th, 2026, for its 26th edition. This festival celebrates the traditional return of the herds from their summer pastures in the mountains. Enjoy four days dedicated to alpine farm life, animal husbandry, rural culture, and the authentic flavors of the Dolomites. The event features farm experiences, tastings, family activities, live music, folklore, exhibitions, and special gastronomic events. The most spectacular moment is the Desmontegada on Sunday, September 27th, when cows, calves, heifers, and horses, accompanied by farmers in traditional attire, parade through the valley's villages in a grand and evocative procession. The festival particularly highlights Primiero milk and cheeses, products of the alpine pastures at the foot of the Pale di San Martino, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
