Experience one of Italy's most important and ancient traditions! The Giostra dell'Orso in Pistoia is a modern take on a medieval jousting tournament dating back to the 1200s. This spectacular event honors San Jacopo, Pistoia's patron saint, with four city districts competing. Horsemen, armed with lances, aim to strike a wooden bear target in a thrilling display of skill. From July 22nd to 25th, enjoy historical medieval processions, the sounds of drums and trumpets, and the famous palio, whose banner is uniquely painted by a different artist each year.
