The 23rd edition of Giaveno Città del Buon Pane celebrates the rich local bread-making tradition, showcasing artisanal breads like micca, biova, mezzana, and stirotto, all recognized with the prestigious De.C.O. designation. You'll also find a delightful array of grissini (breadsticks), biscuits, focaccias, and pizzas. A highlight for 2026 is the launch of the production guidelines for the Grissino Stirato di Giaveno De.C.O. The event features a traditional wood-fired oven area, engaging workshops for children, and a lively band gathering with musical groups from various regions.
Indulge in a variety of authentic baked goods, from sweet brioche and traditional Biscotti del Pellegrino to savory focaccias and pizzas. Don't miss the chance to taste local bread specialties like Biova, Mezzana, Micca, and Stirotto, alongside the renowned Grissino Stirato Torinese. There's also a unique Pane e Miele (bread and honey) offering for a sweet and simple treat.
Join us on Sunday, September 13, 2026, for a full day of activities. The morning kicks off at 9:30 AM with a Matinée Concert in Parco Comunale Maria Teresa Marchini, celebrating the 140th anniversary of the Banda Musicale Leone XIII, directed by Maestro Paola Convertino. Participating bands include Società Filarmonica Almesina, Società Filarmonica Borgonese, Banda Musicale di Giaglione, Banda Musicale di Sangano, Società Filarmonica Giuseppe Perotto, and Majorettes New Shine Giaveno. Throughout the day, you can witness the traditional making and sale of bread, grissini, Biscotti del Pellegrino, and other baked goods by the Associazione Panificatori Artigiani De.C.O. di Giaveno. There will be engaging workshops for children, a display of hand threshing and vintage tractors, a 'Pane e Miele' area, and a market featuring local products, crafts, and hobbies. Explore the historic Mulino della Bernardina, Mulin du Detu, and Mulin du Citu, which will be open to visitors. Enjoy shopping in the town squares and streets. The event will also welcome a French delegation from Giaveno's twin town, Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. A special highlight is the Grissino Cutting Ceremony at 11:30 AM in Piazza Mautino.
