Sagra · November 5, 2026 – November 8, 2026 · Aiello del Friuli (UD)
For over two centuries, the Fiera di San Carlo has brought Aiello del Friuli to life. Established in 1816, 2026 marks its 211th edition, promising four days of celebration, delicious flavors, and rich culture for the entire town. From Thursday to Sunday, the festival tents and food stalls, run by local associations like Pro Loco Aiello e Joannis, Amici dell'Arena, Milan Club, Amici del Mondo, Aiello Volley, and Gruppo Missionario, will serve up traditional Friulian dishes and more. Expect hearty regional specialties like Radetzky-style turkey with polenta, tripe, cotechino sausage, potatoes and beans in tecja, frico cheese, goulash, grilled meats, apple fritters, and much more, all perfectly paired with local wines, Ribolla, and mulled wine. Even the town's restaurants join in with special menus and themed evenings. Every night features live music and DJ sets with talents like DJ Luca Bellotto, Diatriba, Figli di un Cane (a Ligabue Tribute Band), Interplayers, Cindy and the Rock History, Alberto Cescutti and Fabio Primavera, Essenza, and many others. There's also plenty of entertainment for children, a briscola card game tournament, street group dances, a captivating Maki circus-theater street show, and the Sunday lottery drawing. Culture takes center stage too: the History Commission delves into the fair's origins and presents Gianluca Comar's book on pilot Luigi Olivari, accompanied by a dedicated exhibition in the Sala Civica. The Circolo Culturale Navarca hosts four exhibitions in the Museo della Civiltà Contadina, covering photography, painting, sculpture, and local history. Collectors can even get a special postal cancellation. On Sunday, November 8th, don't miss the 49th Marcia dal Dindiat, a non-competitive walk open to all, with 7 km and 12 km routes. The start is from the Museum courtyard, between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM.
Indulge in a wide array of traditional Friulian cuisine and regional specialties. Savor hearty dishes like Radetzky-style turkey served with creamy polenta, classic tripe, savory cotechino sausage, and the comforting 'patate e fagioli in tecja' (potatoes and beans stew). Don't miss the famous frico, a delicious fried cheese dish, or the rich goulash. For those who love grilled flavors, there will be plenty of options, and for a sweet treat, try the delightful apple fritters. All dishes are perfectly complemented by local wines, the crisp Ribolla, and warm mulled wine.
