The Festival Pizza al Piatto is organized by the Capro Social Center, a non-profit volunteer association dedicated to social utility, environmental protection, and preserving local traditions. This noble event, now in its 42nd edition, donates all proceeds to AUCC, the Umbrian Association for the Fight Against Cancer. It takes place at the sports facilities in Bevagna.
Indulge in a wide array of authentic Umbrian flavors! Start with a selection of traditional appetizers like bruschetta with local cured meats and sage, or prosciutto and melon. For your main course, choose from a fantastic variety of pizzas, including classic Margherita, the spicy Diavola, or unique local creations like the Capro (with scamorza cheese, barbozza cured pork, and spinach) and the intriguing Lumache e Guanciale (snails and cured pork cheek). Pasta lovers can enjoy traditional gnocchi with goose ragu or pappardelle with wild boar. Hearty second courses feature grilled lamb and veal, along with local specialties like wild boar stew. Don't miss the 'Torte al Testo' – a traditional flatbread served with various fillings like herbs, sausage, or prosciutto. Finish your meal with delightful desserts such as fresh watermelon, or 'fregnaccia' in sweet or savory versions, and 'tozzetti' biscuits with vinsanto dessert wine.
