Tortorici celebrates its patron saint, Maria SS. Addolorata, with a week of festivities. The program includes religious processions, community twinning events with neighboring towns, traditional Italian card game tournaments (briscola and tressette), and a lively dance evening featuring the Orchestra dei Nebrodi. The celebration culminates with a spectacular fireworks display and a charity raffle.
📅 Monday, September 14th - Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross 📍 5:30 PM: Gathering of the faithful at our Contrada's church. Car procession to Contrada Torre. 📍 6:15 PM: Welcoming of the simulacrum of the Addolorata from Contrada Sciortino and procession to the Torre church. 🙏 6:30 PM: Holy Mass and farewell to the Holy Virgin. 📅 Tuesday, September 15th - Liturgical Feast of the B.V.M. Addolorata 📍 6:00 PM: Gathering of the faithful at the elementary schools of our Contrada. Welcoming of the simulacrum of the Addolorata from Contrada Torre and procession to the church. 🙏 6:30 PM: Holy Mass celebrated by the Archpriest of Patti Cathedral, Don Pierangelo Scaravilli, followed by a torchlight procession to the elementary schools and farewell to the Holy Virgin. 📅 Saturday, September 19th - Eve of the Feast 💥 3:00 PM: Cannon fire announces the start of festivities. 🙏 4:00 PM: Holy Mass and procession through the Martini and Calà contrade. 🃏 7:00 PM: Briscola and tressette card game tournament. 💃 9:30 PM: Dance evening with "L'Orchestra dei Nebrodi." 🎆 12:00 AM: "Jocu Focu" fireworks display. 📅 Sunday, September 20th - Day of the Feast 💥 8:00 AM: Cannon fire announces the main day of celebration. 🙏 9:00 AM: Procession through the Sant'Antonio Sciortino, San Filippo, and Piano Canne contrade. 🙏 4:00 PM: Holy Mass and procession through the Sciortino and Salvo contrade. 🎁 At the end, a charity raffle will be held.
