Sagra · September 4, 2026 – September 6, 2026 · Borgonovo Val Tidone (Piacenza)
Every first weekend of September, Borgonovo Val Tidone (Piacenza) celebrates the Festa d’la Chisöla, now in its 60th edition. This festival honors the Chisöla, a traditional local specialty with a Municipal Denomination of Origin. This humble, peasant-origin food consists of a simple dough of water and flour enriched with ciccioli, crispy bits rendered from pork fat. Legend has it that this dish was offered to Barbarossa's army in 1155 as they passed through the lands where Borgonovo Val Tidone would later be founded. During the festival, the village comes alive with food stalls offering traditional dishes and the delightful pairing of chisöla with Ortrugo, a white wine typical of the Piacenza hills. The updated program can be found on the official website.
Indulge in the star of the festival, the Chisöla, a unique local specialty made from a simple dough enriched with savory pork ciccioli. Pair this traditional delight with Ortrugo, a crisp white wine from the Piacenza hills, and explore other traditional foods offered at the various stands.
