This event features religious processions, solemn liturgies, and moments of prayer, culminating in the spectacular ritual greeting of the statues of Santissimo Salvatore and the Virgin Mary. It's a unique opportunity to witness centuries-old customs and the vibrant faith of the community.
Join us for the Festa dell'Inchinata from August 11-15, with a special Octave Celebration on August 22. 📅 August 11-13: At 6:00 PM, attend the preparatory Triduum at Basilica Cattedrale. At 6:30 PM, another preparatory Triduum will be held at Chiesa di S. Maria Maggiore. 📅 August 14: At 11:30 AM, the Santissimo Salvatore will be displayed at Basilica Cattedrale. At 6:30 PM, the revered image of Maria Santissima delle Grazie will be displayed at Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore. The Liturgy of the Word, presided over by S. E. il Vescovo di Tivoli e di Palestrina, begins at 8:30 PM at Basilica Cattedrale. The procession of the Santissimo Salvatore departs from Piazza Domenico Tani at 9:00 PM. At 9:30 PM, witness the Blessing of the Waters at Ponte Gregoriano. A prayer stop and 'kissing of the threshold of pain' will take place at Ospedale S. Giovanni Evangelista at 10:00 PM. The highlight, the Inchinata – the ritual greeting of the statues of Santissimo Salvatore and the Virgin – occurs at 10:45 PM under the traditional mortella arches. Conclude the evening with a spectacular fireworks display by Premiata Ditta "Pirotecnica Romana" at 11:30 PM at Anfiteatro di Bleso. The Banda Musicale di Tivoli will accompany the processional cortege through the city streets. 📅 August 15 – Solemnity of Maria Santissima Assunta: At 10:30 AM, a Solemn Holy Mass of the Cathedral Chapter will be presided over by S. E. Mons. Mauro Parmeggiani, Vescovo di Tivoli e di Palestrina, at Chiesa di S. Maria Maggiore. At 11:30 AM, the Inchinata will be renewed, followed by a solemn procession of the Santissimo Salvatore towards the Cattedrale from Piazza Trento. The Banda Musicale di Tivoli will again accompany the processional cortege. 📅 August 22 – Octave Celebration: At 6:00 PM, a Holy Mass and procession will take place at Cattedrale, moving through Piazza Domenico Tani, Arco del Macello, Piazza Duomo, and concluding with the repositioning of the Santissimo Salvatore. At 6:30 PM, another Holy Mass and procession will depart from Chiesa di S. Maria Maggiore, proceeding through Piazza Trento, Via della Missione, Via Pacifici, Via Boselli, and ending with the repositioning of the image of Maria Santissima delle Grazie.
