Festa della Castagna - Chestnut Festival

Sagra · October 17, 2026 – October 25, 2026 · Bacchereto, Carmignano (PO)

Join us for the 44th annual Festa della Castagna, a delightful autumn celebration organized by Polisportiva Bacchereto in the charming town of Carmignano. Over two weekends, October 17-18 and 24-25, the village comes alive to honor the humble chestnut. Indulge in an array of sweet and savory treats like nicci with ricotta and Nutella, castagnaccio (chestnut cake), bruciate (roasted chestnuts), frittelle (fried dough), and migliacci (sweet fritters), all perfectly paired with vin novo (new wine) and vin brulé (mulled wine). Explore an exhibition of ancient majolica pottery within the walls of the Medieval Castle, and on Sundays, enjoy free guided tours of the Church of S. Maria Assunta.

🍽️ Food & Menu

Prepare your taste buds for a true Tuscan autumn feast! Savor traditional Tuscan appetizers and warm up with glasses of vin brulé and vin novo. The festival's star, the chestnut, shines in various forms: from classic roasted bruciate and fresh castagne to the delightful castagnaccio chestnut cake. Don't miss the unique nicci with ricotta and Nutella, along with other sweet treats like frittelle di riso (rice fritters), frittelle nicce, migliacci, and a selection of other desserts and cookies. For heartier options, try the comforting minestra di pane (bread soup) and creamy polenta ai funghi (polenta with mushrooms). And for a quick bite, grab some covaccino all'olio (flatbread with olive oil) or covaccino con ciccioli (flatbread with pork cracklings).
