The 14th edition of the Festa del Fagiolo Quarantino celebrates the unique Quarantino bean, a local specialty of Volturara Irpina. This vibrant festival offers a true taste of Italian tradition with food stalls, live folk music, and engaging cultural activities. Enjoy Slow Food tastings, scenic excursions, and creative workshops for children. Don't miss the fascinating demonstration of ancient bean threshing techniques. The event culminates with a special tribute to Carlo Petrini, the founder of Slow Food.
Indulge in the star of the festival, the Fagiolo Quarantino bean, prepared in various traditional dishes. This is a unique opportunity to savor authentic local specialties and discover the rich flavors of Irpinia's culinary heritage.
Join us for three days of festivities! Each evening, starting at 7:30 PM on Friday and 12:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, the food stalls open, offering delicious local cuisine. Live music will fill the air across three different squares (Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Piazza Roma, and Piazzetta Sarno) with performances by bands like TREMENTISTI 99% musica popolare, FUSIONE, and SUONI ANTICHI - I BOTTARI DI MACERATA CAMPANIA on Friday night, and many more throughout the weekend. Daytime activities include guided tours of the Museo etnografico della Piana del Dragone and the beautiful Piana del Dragone. On Saturday, explore the area with a guided hike (Sentiero 101 Volturara - Terminio) or a bike tour. Kids can enjoy a creative workshop on Saturday afternoon. Sunday features rock climbing and via ferrata experiences, and a special arrival of a historic train. Don't miss the demonstration of ancient bean threshing at 4:00 PM on Sunday, followed by a Slow Food tasting and a special award ceremony in memory of Carlo Petrini at 6:00 PM. Roaming street artists will entertain guests throughout all three days.
