An exciting food and wine festival dedicated to baccalà (salted codfish), prepared in all its traditional forms: Vicenza-style, stewed, creamed, seasoned, and fried. This event spans three weekends between September and October, featuring open gastronomic evenings, themed lunches, a cultural event about the Vajont disaster with historians and survivors, and the 6th Home Cooking Baccalà in Umido Competition, complete with culinary challenges and prizes for the winners.
Indulge in a wide array of baccalà dishes, from creamy mantecato to crispy fried, and the rich Vicenza-style or hearty stewed versions. Don't miss the special '20th Anniversary Plate' offering a tasting of various baccalà preparations. Beyond baccalà, enjoy traditional Italian sides like mixed forest mushrooms, grilled vegetables, and french fries. For those seeking alternatives, there are pasta dishes like gnocchi and pasticcio with baccalà, or pennette with ragù, along with grilled steak, chicken, and local cheese platters. Special solidarity lunches are also available, including options for children and meat lovers.
The festival kicks off with open kitchens on Friday, September 18th and Saturday, September 19th at 6:30 PM. Sunday, September 20th features a morning meeting at 10:30 AM on 'The Aftermath of Vajont: The Psychology of Emergency' with Micaela Coletti (survivor) and Francesco Martini (historian), followed by a charity lunch for the 'Comitato Sopravvissuti Vajont' at 12:15 PM (reservations: 347 965 6785), and the kitchen reopens at 6:30 PM.
