Over the years, the festival has successfully introduced countless visitors to the fascinating history of the Marchesato di Monte Santa Maria Tiberina, a territory that maintained its independence from the 1300s to the 1800s, ruled by the Bourbon del Monte family – a lineage that notably includes Cardinal Francesco Maria del Monte, known as a patron of Caravaggio.
