Join a 5 km guided nature and educational excursion to the Grotte di San Ponzo. The program includes a trekking experience with lessons on local geology, botany, and wildlife, a visit to the historic caves with stories about their past, and a chance to gather autumn chestnuts. This activity is organized by Volo di Rondine, a nature association from Oltrepò Pavese.
📅 Saturday, October 10, 2026 🎤 3:00 PM — Meet in Piazza della Chiesa, San Ponzo di Semola (parking available in the field) 🥾 3:10 PM — Begin the 5 km nature trek (200 m elevation gain) with guide Dr. Marco Ciccolella. During the walk, learn about the geology, botany, and wildlife of the area. 🏔️ 4:00 PM — Visit the Grotte di San Ponzo and hear stories about the Saint's history. 🌰 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM — Chestnut Foraging 🏁 6:00 PM — Return and activity concludes. ℹ️ This event is reserved for Volo di Rondine members (complimentary membership with insurance included; sign-up available at the time of booking). Fees: adults and children aged 8 and up €15, children under 8 FREE. Mandatory booking by the morning of October 10. Dogs are welcome. Trekking attire is recommended.
