The highlight of the day is the "Palio della Pigiatura," a lively grape-stomping competition where historical districts of San Giovanni in Marignano — Pian di Ventena, Pietra Fitta, La Cattolica, and Monte di Conca — battle it out. Each team, represented by a pair, will stomp grapes barefoot in a barrel, vying to produce the most must and claim the coveted Palio di Marignano. Beyond the thrilling competition, you'll find traditional characters like the "strillone" (newsboy), "briganti" (bandits), "azdore" (traditional homemakers), and storytellers, all recreating the vibrant atmosphere of the past.
